Our World- Space

This week, friends started to learn about fourth day of creation- SPACE.
Friends learned that there are 8 planets in the Solar System. Mercury is a ball of iron closest to the Sun, Venus is the same size as Earth, Earth is the place where we all live, Mars is red and rocky, Jupiter and Saturn are gas giants, Uranus and Neptune are icy planets.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZ-qLUIj_A0
Few years ago, there were 9 planets. Pluto was one of them. What have happened to Pluto? asked friends. Why is it no longer considered a planet? Believe it or not, this debate has been going on for a long time. In August of 2006, 424 astronomers finally got together to vote on the definition of "planet." The definition they came up with would no longer consider Pluto as a planet, but rather a dwarf planet. Next week, friends will learn more about planets, space crafts, astronauts, and telescopes.
